What is a Chapter?
A Stemiverse chapter is a branch of our non-profit that consists of a group of people committed to bridging the gaps in STEM education. A chapter can be a school club, a community group, or a state-wide initiative. Whether it is a group of 6 people or 50, every chapter is significant and crucial to our mission.
Starting a chapter is a lasting commitment. There are expectations of organizing monthly activities (STEM workshops, school supply drives, or fundraisers). The goal of a chapter is to create meaningful relationships within the community: gathering others to engage in science workshops, establishing partnerships with local libraries and schools, and spreading awareness for STEM education. While all support is appreciated, starting a chapter should only be considered by those who have the time and commitment to making an impact on a larger scale.
How to Start a Chapter
1. Submit an application
2. Interview with our executive team
For school chapters only: register your chapter with your school / introduce the idea to school leadership BEFORE you apply.
We will contact you to set up an interview if you pass the first round. Please remember that starting a chapter is a lasting commitment.
3. Appoint your chapter's officers
4. Plan out goals & Host Workshops
Once approved, you will need to create a leadership board. You can create positions however you see fit, from social media managers to fundraising heads, but President and Treasurer are required. Responsibilities must be defined at the start to ensure that everyone knows their roles.
Chapters should strive to hold a science workshop or organize fundraising events every month. It is also crucial to regularly apply for local grants to help continue our mission.
